Why We Built This Site

Florida keeps most jail and inmate information open to the public, so the records are usually out there. The real obstacle is knowing where each one lives. A person waiting for trial sits in the county jail and shows on the sheriff's roster. A sentenced felon moves to a state prison and shows only in the corrections department's locator. Federal and immigration detainees appear in different systems again.
